An, ‘Act of God,’ for example, is a tornado or an earthquake, something that is not easily anticipated and something that strikes almost randomly. In this case, Hurricane Matthew is not an ‘Act of God.’ We live in North Carolina, and therefore experience ‘hurricane season.’ We also have areas that are more prone to flooding. Any ordinarily prudent person would be able to see that a low-lying grassy area would be prone to flooding during hurricane season, particularly with ample warning of the upcoming Hurricane Matthew on every news outlet. Putting the vehicles on a low-lying grassy area during hurricane season with non-stop news coverage of the approaching hurricane is clearly the cause that produced the resulting damage to the vehicles, an obvious result in a continuous sequence, and one from which any manof ordinary prudence could have foreseen that such a result was probable under all the facts as they existed.
